WISEWORK-C was pleased to hold on 6 October 2025 a mini-symposium at the 2025 EPICOH Conference in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

The core focus of the 2025 EPICOH Conference is the prevention of occupational diseases, particularly through etiological studies and early-warning systems.

The goals of WISEWORK-C align directly with this, as the cluster’s five projects aim to develop and implement evidence-based interventions to prevent both mental and physical health problems in workplaces.
In recent years, the twin transition (i.e., the digital and green transition) has resulted in rapid changes to workplaces, including how we work, where we work, and how we manage and lead organizations. These changes can impact working conditions, health, and occupational safety for both skilled and unskilled workers.

To address these challenges, WISEWORK-C brings together five EU-funded projects that explore a variety of interventions targeting both mental and physical health in the workplace. This collaborative framework enables the development of comprehensive, innovative solutions adaptable to diverse workplace environments. This cluster group advances the field through:

  1. Bridging multiple fields spanning mental, physical, and environmental health alongside policy development while maintaining a strong focus on real-world implementation. This transdisciplinary strategy integrates evidence from various disciplines to design comprehensive interventions that can be translated into practical, scalable solutions for workplaces.
  2. Addressing post-pandemic changes to the work environment. Due to the increased shift to remote and hybrid work, many organizations face new challenges, such as isolation, stress, and ergonomic issues from extended remote work.
  3. Developing common data practices (e.g., FAIR principles, shared repositories) for robust, transparent research. By collaborating on data management and analysis, WISEWORK-C enhances the reproducibility and comparability of findings across countries and sectors—an important step for epidemiological rigor.

At the mini-symposia at EPIOCH, EU-CoWork, INTERCAMBIO, PROSPERH, SONATA and WAge shared with participants insights into how to better prepare workplaces for the future, ensuring they are healthier and more sustainable for employees.
